Run by Maurizio and his brother the executive chef from Piedmont, Northwest Italy, for years, they have been serving exceptional, authentic cuisine to their local patrons. Legend has it that they serve the BEST TIRAMISU (made with Grappa)

Thrilled to spot an Aperol Spritz on the menu! While it’s a staple in Italy, it’s a rare find in Malaysian Italian restaurants. I had to compliment the owner—it was a wonderful and unexpected surprise.

Wagyu tonnato
I was introduced to an antipasti so sublime, so uniquely brilliant, that it has rewritten my personal definition of Italian starters: the Wagyu Tonnato. This antipasti is famous in the hometown of owner, Maurizio. While he mentioned it Italy it is typically made with veal, here at Via Pre he decided to make it with Wagyu. It isn’t just another item on the menu; it’s a story on a plate. It’s a taste of Maurizio’s heritage, a direct culinary import that speaks of passion and authenticity.

Duck Polpette
Another unique antipasti I’ve never taste before, we enjoy this beautiful dish while listening to Maurizio explaining that a long time ago in Italy the triangle golden bread (schiacchiata) was a staple of Italian “poor cuisine” a style of cooking that originated from the need to use simple, readily available, and sometimes leftover ingredients to create nutritious meals.
Don’t you just love learning about culture of other country over food?!

Roasted Eggplant Parmigiana
It looks like lasagna at first glance, its superb taste, with stacks of tender eggplant baked to perfection, is a true crowd-pleaser that brings instant joy.

Catch of the day fish
Via Pre features a rotating selection of four locally sourced, fresh fish—red snapper, barramundi, sea bass, and grouper—each skillfully prepared in the Italian style. On our visit, we enjoyed the red snapper, which was perfectly cooked in a vibrant and juicy tomato sauce.

Francesina Pizza
Maurizio points out a key difference in pizza styles. He serves Roman-style pizza here in Via Pre KL, which is different from the more famous Neapolitan (Napoli) style. The two main differences are:
The Crust: Roman pizza has a crispy crust.
The Base: It’s not super thin and floppy in the middle like a Neapolitan pizza.
The pizza looks simple but it’s really 1 of the best pizza I’ve had in a long time. Crusty, soft and flavourful, filled with turkey ham and mushrooms. Simple joy!

Boston Lobster Spaghetti tomatoes & Brandy
A dish that Via Pre KL has been serving their customer for years, this dish just demands your attention! The Boston Lobster was succulent and generously portioned, but the real star was the symphony of flavors in the sauce. The tangy tomato base was transformed by a deep, warm brandy infusion that created a complex and velvety coating for the perfectly cooked squid ink spaghetti.
There’s always an option to change it to gluten free pasta here at Via Pre.

Gluten Free Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Sardinia Bottarga
Aglio Olio but make it luxury! he generous shower of Sardinian bottarga is what makes it unforgettable. The salted, cured mullet roe dissolves into the olive oil, creating a beautiful, elegant, classy dish! Must try!!

Grappa & Berries Tiramisu
Via Pre KL’s version of tiramisu, is in stronger in alcohol, as it’s made of grappa, another rare find in KL.
While the classic Tiramisu is beloved worldwide, a version made with grappa is often a sign of a more authentic, sophisticated, and traditional Italian dessert, especially from the Northern regions where grappa is produced. You get a slice of Northern Italy without being in Northern Italy.

Duo Panna Cotta
Another beautiful dessert, the presentation alone is a treat, nothing on this plate isn’t worth coming all the way to Via Pre KL.
Via Pre isn’t just your ordinary restaurant, you can feel it through 1 visit, the owner and everyone that works there have so much passion cooking authentic good Italian food for their customers, preserving true Italian heritage, telling their story through their food.
